The Maryland Minority Research & Development Initiative
The Maryland Minority Research & Development Initiative (MMRDI) is a two-year program to assist Maryland, and especially Prince George's County-based, small, minority, and women-owned businesses identify and successfully complete for Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grants.SBIR grants and STTR grants provide technical research funds to small businesses who partner with Federal Agencies and nonprofit research institutions, respectively.
In support of this Initiative, Gsecurity will:
- Seek out and match eligible businesses to Federal SBIR and STTR funding opportunities
- Provide technical assistance, training, and business counseling to firms participating in the Initiative The goal of the Initiative is to increase the participation of Maryland,and specifically Prince George's County, businesses in SBIR and STTR funding programs.
The MMRDI is funded through a grant from the US Small Business Administration to the Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO). Other partners include the Prince George's County Economic Development Corporation and the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP). SBIR and STTR grants are amoung our nation's best kept secrets forbuilding a technology business and fostering innovation.
